Approving, exporting and versions
What approval checks, what it unlocks, how to download an article, and what the version history records.
Nothing leaves elessar until a person approves it. Approval is one button on the article page, and it is gated on the sources: the coverage meter tells you whether every checkable claim has a passage behind it. Once approved, the article can be downloaded, turned into social posts, and published to your site. Approval can be undone.
The coverage meter
At the top of the article the meter reads one of:
- "Every claim is sourced." Nothing to do.
- "Ready to approve — every checkable claim has a source."
- "Give the uncited claims a source, or approve anyway if you are sure of them." Some claims have no passage behind them. Press "See the claims that still need a source" to read them.
A claim loses its source when you edit the sentence so it no longer says what the passage says, or when the writer made a claim the sources could not support and the quality check let it through as the brand's own view.
Approve
Press "Approve this article". An editor or an owner can approve; a viewer cannot. If claims are uncited, the button is "Approve without a source for every claim", so you know what you are signing. The article moves from Needs you to Approved.
To undo, press the button again: "Put it back under Needs you". If the article was published to your site, that also takes it off the site, and the button says so.

Download
Download opens once the article is approved. Choose:
- HTML page: a full document with its meta title and description, ready to paste into any page.
- HTML + Markdown + images (.zip): the article in both forms, with its images, for a developer or a CMS that takes Markdown.
Downloads carry the sources at the end as a list with links.
Social posts
"Social posts" writes a LinkedIn post, an X post and a newsletter intro from the approved article, in your voice, for 1 credit each. You edit and copy them. With LinkedIn connected under Settings → Integrations, the LinkedIn post can go to your profile from there.
Versions
Every save in the editor, every section fix and every rewrite makes a version. Open Version history from the article: each version is numbered and dated, says whether it was edited by a person or produced by the pipeline, and shows how much of it is cited. "No edits yet" means the draft is exactly as it was written.
If it goes wrong
- "Only an editor or owner can approve a draft": ask an owner to change your role under Settings → Team.
- "Download opens once an editor has approved this draft": approve first.
- The download failed: try again. If it keeps failing, send feedback from the page you are on and we will look.
