Reviewing the plan before the writing starts

Pause each run after the topic is settled, read the angle and the sources, and only then let it write.

A run can stop and wait for you before a word is written. It shows the point the article will make, the working title and the sources it will write from. You say "Go ahead", or ask for a different plan. Going ahead uses no more credits. It is the cheapest moment to change your mind.

Switch it on

Open the project, then its settings. Under "How articles are written", turn on "Review the plan before writing". It applies to every article written from that project from then on. Off, runs write straight through as before.

What you see

Once the topic is settled, the run page says "Waiting for you to approve the plan" and shows:

  • The point it will make: the angle, in a sentence.
  • The working title.
  • The sources it will cite. A source research added for this article is in the project too, in plain sight.

Nothing is written until you say go ahead. The run also appears under Articles → Stopped with "Waiting for you", and on Home under what needs you, so you can come back to it later.

Go ahead

Press "Go ahead". The run carries on from exactly where it paused, with the plan you read. There is no further charge: the 50 credits were taken when the run started.

Ask for a different plan

Press "Ask for a different plan" and say what the article should be instead: a different angle, a source to lean on, something to leave out. A fresh run starts from the beginning with your notes, and it pauses at its plan again so you can read the new one. This is a new run: it uses 50 credits, and the paused run is cancelled. The sheet says so before you confirm.

If only the sources are wrong, it is cheaper to close the sheet, add or remove sources in the project, and start the article again.

If it goes wrong

  • A plan that leans on a found source rather than your own pages usually means your sources do not cover the topic. Add a page of yours that does, and ask for a different plan.
  • A viewer cannot go ahead or ask for a different plan. An editor or an owner can.
  • If a run waited and nobody answered, it waits. It is not charged twice and it does not expire.
